The leaders in the championship division will tee it up at 2:30 p.m. Tomorrows final round of the 36-hole championship begins at 7:30 a.m. Bryden and partner Roger Stockmo of Southview CC carded a net score of 71 today in the master division. On the par-3, 158-yard 17 th hole, Bryden carded a hole-in-one. The shot of the day belonged to Howard Bryden of Southview CC. Teams declare their division at the time of entry. In the master division (age 65 and over) Sheldon Michaletz of Valley View GC and Ron Seagren from Hiawatha GC shot a net 30-33-63. In the senior division (age 55-64) Jim Kiefer and Raleigh Rose of Sundance GC and Gary Thorp of Interlachen CC and partner Tom Gray of Olympic Hills GC both shot a net 64 to grab a share of the first round lead. Two additional divisions competed in the competition on a net best-ball format. Gruidl and Leaf will be looking for their fifth MGA Senior Four-Ball title since 1999 as the duo were champions in 1999, 2000, 20. ![]() The rest of their solid round consisted of all pars en-route to their 5-under-par performance. ![]() ![]() Gruidl and Leafs 5-under-par round of 67 consisted of birdies at the 1 st, 3 rd, 5 th, 8 th, 9 th and 12 th holes while their lone bogey of the day came on the par-4, 418 yard, 10 th hole. Overcast skies with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s in Wayzata could not cool down the four-time MGA Senior Four-Ball champions, Jerry Gruidl and Robert Leaf from storming to a 2-shot lead over Larry Barnacle from White Bear Yacht Club and Richard McArdle of Olympic Hills Golf Club who shot 69. Defending champions, Jerry Gruidl of Golden Valley G&CC and partner Robert Leaf of Hazeltine National GC are once again atop the leader board after firing a 5-under-par 67 during the first round of play at the 31 st Minnesota Golf Association Senior Four-Ball championship at Wayzata Country Club.
